The Anishinabek Nation is a political advocate for 39 member First Nations across Ontario. It is the oldest political organization in Ontario, tracing its roots back to the Confederacy of Three Fires, which existed long before European contact.

The Anishinabek Nation territory spans from Algonquins of Pikwàkanagàn in the east, Aamjiwnaang in the south and Lake Nipigon in the north. The 39 First Nations have an approximate, combined, population of 70,000 citizens, one third of Ontario’s Indigenous population. The Anishinabek Nation has four strategic regional areas: the Southwest, Southeast, Lake Huron and Northern Superior regions. Each region is represented by a Regional Chief.
